5. Caracas - This Venezuelan "cheap eat" spot could not go unnoticed, especially in a time of penny pinching. There is usually a wait time of at least an hour at this East Village dive that serves some of the best arepas known to man. From pork to plantains, Caracas knows how to feed you for cheap. Check it out...located at 7th Street and 1st Avenue, right across the street from Little India.

4. Apizz - No one knows about this tucked away gem on the Lower East Side that serves simple Italian food with exceptional flavor and an incredible wine list. Don't leave without trying the gnocchi con ragu di carne. It is simply the best pasta dish I have ever tasted, hands down. Located at 217 Eldridge, it is a great spot for dinner parties or an intimate dinner for two.

3. Knife And Fork - If you want to impress your date with a romantic dinner for two then head to cozy Knife and Fork, located at 108 East 4th Street in the East Village. The award winning tasting menu is not worth missing, but try not to eat all day because although the portions are small, they keep coming. Rosemary creme brulee is the finishing touch to be fully consumed with a nice glass of muscat.

2. La Sirene - Flamboyantly straight Master Chef, Didier, is so talented that this quaint little spot is growing into one of the best known BYOB in all of NYC. From cassoulet to skate fish with monte beurre, Didier aims to please. Located in Soho on the corner of Varick and Broome, don't blink or you'll miss it.

1. Stanton Social - Don't leave without tasting the French onion soup dumplings or the duck empanadas. The eclectic and sophisticated menu will leave you completely satisfied after meals beckoning you to share with your date or friends. Located at 99 Stanton on the LES.
Bon Appetit!
